Meet the great team of Nurses working with Kelly on this project.
My name is Jason Blomquist. I am a more recent addition to Idaho, having moved here 3 years ago with my wife and our family of dogs. Prior to nursing school, I worked with at-risk teenagers in wilderness based therapeutic programs. Additionally, I used to guide commercial mountain bike tours out of Moab, Utah. I have a deep interest in combining an active lifestyle with delicious and healthy food. In my early twenties I used to weigh 275 lbs and have had to work very hard to regain my physical fitness. It is very easy to make unhealthy choices, so I am very interested in finding ways to make healthful living an everyday habit. Kira and I are working together to create an example of how to introduce nutrient rich foods into your daily diet in a fast, tasty, easy and cost-effective manner. I look forward to meeting and working with the families of Parma!
Hi! My name is Robyn Develle and though I was born and raised in New Orleans, Boise has been my home for the past 22 years. I am a chiropractor working on a Diplomate in the natural treatment of internal medicine disorders and a senior nursing student in the ISU fast track program. I am now planning to become a nurse practitioner. (I’m hoping Lisa and I will get to be classmates again!) I love cycling, hiking, windsurfing and virtually anything I can do outdoors in the summer! My passion is bringing people hope by helping them understand that many diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure are reversible with proper lifestyle choices. I’m so thrilled to be part of this team and I look forward to meeting you in Parma!
Hi, I’m Yvette, an Idaho native raised in Boise. I spent my youth heavily involved as a member of the Bogus Basin Ski Racing Alliance which gave me the wonderful opportunity to travel all around the US participating in events such as the Junior Olympics and The US Nationals. I attended university on an alpine ski racing scholarship. My love of athletics, fitness, and living a healthy lifestyle continues to this day and I am enthusiastic about encouraging others to join in exercise activities with me. It just feels great! Part of what I’m trying to accomplish during our Live Well! presentation in Parma is to put together a brochure listing local activities that inspire families to get involved with physical activity. The goal is to show people that a wide variety of options exist--there is some kind of activity which will appeal to each kind of person. Let’s get the parents to get involved in exercising with their children. Remember: PUT SOME PLAY IN EVERY DAY!
★ My name is Meg FitzMaurice. I am a born & raised Idaho girl. I am a student at Idaho State University’s Fast Track Nursing Program in Meridian. I am someone who is in constant motion and loves the outdoors and self-propelled travel whether in my kayak or on my bike. My life path has been guided by the love of learning. It has inspired me in my prior career as an elementary teacher, brought me to all seven continents and is the driving force to my return to school to pursue a degree in nursing. The experience and awareness gained from learning something new is what motivates me in my daily life pursuits. I am thrilled to get the opportunity work with Kelly Pesnell, my ISU classmates and the community of Parma for my senior project. I am passionate about health promotion and excited to work with families to introduce a sustainable nutrition and exercise program to the community.
Hi! I'm Tami Sandmeyer. Nursing is a second career for me. I started Nursing School in 1980 and dropped out to get married, have children and experience life. I ran a large childcare center for 17 years while my two children were growing up. Now I have a 6-year old grandson and a granddaughter on the way. My friends call me their herbal, computer geek friend. They call me for a tincture or an herb that can make them feel better, and they depend on me to fix their computers. So I guess I am pretty handy to have around. My favorite health book is "Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. (www.drfuhrman.com) My future goals, as a nurse practitioner, is health promotion and disease prevention through nutrition and diet. Working with children and their families to encourage health and vitality has always been my passion and that lead me to this project. I truly look forward to working with the families of Idaho. Thanks for the opportunity.
Hey! Lisa here. I was born and raised in rural Kansas. I've lived in Boise, Idaho for 14 years. For the past 20 years I have had a deep love of nutrition and exercise and sharing this interest with others. I am in my last semester of the Fast Track Nursing program at ISU-Meridian and have applied to graduate school (wish me luck!) for study as a Family Nurse Practitioner in hopes of bringing together my passion for health and my desire to work with rural communities. I strongly believe that prevention is the future of medicine. I have an amazing family and an enthusiasm for living. I'm deeply proud to be part of Kelly's project. Cheers to your health!
Hello! My name is Kira. I was born, raised, and still live in Middleton, Id. I'm a small town country girl at heart and have a deep commitment to small communities. I graduated with my first degree in 2003 with a bachelor's of Business Management. Shortly after, my husband and I started our family. We are blessed with three wonderful children. Nutrition and exercise are very important to our daily lives. That passion for health is what brought me back to school for nursing. I am so excited to get started and am greatly looking forward to working with the people of Parma to whom I live very close. Let's have some fun!
See you there!
